If you are going to sleep at the race track during an Indycar event, under a 1981 Eagle is probably as nice as it can get.

Always a good sign when you buy a van full of car parts that a 1:64 version of said car is included.

Friday, July 17, 2026 - roughly 12:11 p.m.

The first AAR Eagle Demo lap session last weekend.

This moment was everything.

Driving a car I hadn't been in since 2022, regaining the old muscle memory of what it felt like to drive the Eagle DGF, the car I promised Dan I'd always keep flying...

Side-by-side with a the '81 Eagle, a car we loaded up in a downpour in Connecticut on July 4, 2008. Seeing it belch fire and spool up so ferociously with Reid at the helm was perhaps the coolest thing I will ever see on a race track. It had to be Chip's old car that made me feel that.

Everything there-after over the course of the following 48 hours was icing on the cake.

I don't really know how to explain what happened last weekend though. Helping to bring AAR's past to RA is something I will always hold dear, and it was a team effort all-around.

Meeting the legends that came for the reunion gave me goosebumps all weekend. Then came the Saturday photo shoot.

When they called for my family to pose in front of the cars, it started as just me and my son. It was too much for this lad. I had to turn around for a second.

I said hello to many people, but never want to say goodbye. Its all too fragile that way.

So until next time.

A toast to Eagle #407.

There is 541 hp sitting there, waiting to come alive aboard 1968 Eagle #407, courtesy of the SBC that Wayne Brown of RB MotorSports Engineering built for the unpainted Eagle that Bobby Unser wrecked in a Goodyear tire test.

But it will be a while until it is able to unleash all those horses.

Until then, its a great leg workout.

The 2026 Dan Gurney / AAR Reunion

7/20/2026

We had a wonderful weekend at Road America!

Its more than words will ever explain, but AAR Eagles are in our blood. To help bring 41 ½ Eagles and over 100 AAR alumni to our home track was something we will never forget.

It was also the debut weekend for our 1968 AAR Eagle #407, on its wheels since December 1968, as well as the first public appearance of 1981 AAR Eagle #8101 running since Riverside, 1983.

We had our own Jacques Dresang and Reid Hazelton, as well as Sam Smith and Brad Newman pilot our trio of runners for the Eagle demonstration laps, and Hazelton raced our 1977 AAR Eagle DGF #005 in the Club Ford category, where it set fast lap enroute to the victory.

Special thanks to RB MotorSports Engineering, Don Hoevel Racing, Werth Racing Enterprises, Scott Young Enterprises and American Cylinder Gas for their support in the DGF effort.

It was an all-around win for all involved, and we were humbled to take part among some absolute legends.

Thanks Mike!

A huge thanks to the legend Mike Devin, who we called this week to help us with an injection issue we've been having with the Commander Motor Homes Eagle-Offenhauser.

Mike was the chief mechanic on the Eagle in 1973 and 1974 with the very engine that is in it today.

After five minutes on the phone with him, PJ went to work and the problem was quickly remedied. Sure enough, Eagle #7228 hauled the mail at Milwaukee today, and it wanted to go quicker...

Thanks Mike!
