Here is the on-board the Elden from Sunday morning's feature. Highlights include: front row seat to a spearing of another car in T6, which caused a tidal wave of cars running wide; two FSV's passing me under yellow, and finally, taking the class win.
Oh, and when all the cars ran wide in turn 6, the lone Formula Ford ahead of me was Reid in the Eagle. So at one point, of the 22 FFs collectively present, both KMPR cars were leading the way. You'll notice I let some cars by. Once I realized I had my class covered, I tried not to get in the way of the cars battling in the Club Ford race. Best to save a bit for next-time out. Two historic cars.
Two Formula Ford categories. Two wins. A stellar day for the Kettle Moraine Preservation & Restoration squadron. Special thanks to Wayne Brown at RB MotorSports Engineering, Nate Cover, Werth Racing Enterprises, Scott Young Enterprises, Shippert Racing Services, UEMSI/HTV, and everyone who has helped us during our time as caretakers of these amazing cars. It was the first win for the Eagle at the WIC since 2016 and the first for the Elden at the event, where it debuted just two years ago. The next outing for the team will be at the VSCDA Elkhart Lake Vintage Festival in September. Its always an honor. Michael Argetsinger's former Elden finished 1st in Vintage FF today and set fast lap in the class. It was a true honor to flick it to the front.
Meanwhile, a wing car of some sort tapped Reid's left-rear tire entering Turn 1, and the Eagle was stopped facing the field in the wrong direction on the exit of the turn. Luckily, and to my great excitement, he came roaring by me four laps later, and captured the fast lap in the Club Ford class in the process, meaning the Eagle will lead the Formula Ford contingent tomorrow morning for our 9 a.m. feature. One win and two fast laps, but more importantly, two pieces of history are intact to battle another day. [Bob Holzem Photo] The 2024 Monoposto Racing Vintage Historic Ford Championship trophy. It was an honor to win with Michael's Elden. It will also be an honor to send to the Hampsheir family for their wonderful creation, the Elden PH10B.
Racing historic cars shouldn't be about the driver in the seat, but what the soul of the car represents. I'm just along for the ride. Reid went P3 in Club Ford with the Eagle in what was a chaotic red-flagged qualifying session.
Meanwhile, the Elden's fast lap was one in which the #121 passed five cars, so it wasn't exactly clean... Regardless, it went second-quickest in Vintage Formula Ford. We'll see you again in 2026 with our Indy Eagles- our Dan Gurney creations will be out running at the Vintage Indy Road America round, the Miller Meet and the Eagle Reunion at the 2026 edition of the Weathertech International Challenge at Road America.
Until then, Eagle DGF #005 and our 1973 Elden PH10B will be taking center stage for us for the remainder of the 2025 season at the WIC and VSCDA Elkhart Lake Vintage Festival. [Jim Debosik Photo] We had a blast this past Friday and Saturday at the Harry A. Miller Club's 30th Annual Miller Meet, held at the legendary Milwaukee Mile- our home track.
Our two 1972 All American Racers Eagles took part in the event, with Jacques Dresang piloting Eagle #7225, and Reid Hazelton driving #7228. Both cars ran great throughout the weekend, though there were some small gremlins that crept up from time-to-time. Its always an honor to fly the Eagles, and to take part in an event that pays homage to the Miller / Offenhauser legacy is another wonderful thing. We look forward to coming back and letting the Eagles fly in 2026! |
