Fred Armbruster and Pete Lovely's former 1958 Thames 800 arrived in good order Monday morning.
Oddly enough, just below the truck, which we've nicknamed 'Lovely,' was a VW Transporter, much like the ones that Pete Lovely later used for his racing efforts; destined for Chicago. We'll keep you up to date as to the progress on the Thames, but we're pleased to say the 1703cc Ford Consul motor runs smoothly! The next event we'll be attending be the team's second attempt at running with the Vintage Sports Car Drivers Association's annual Elkhart Lake Vintage Festival. Back in 2015, we tried running with the fine folks at VSCDA with our 1977 All American Racers Eagle DGF #005 Formula Ford, but had a mechanical issue on the first lap of practice, and that was that!
This go-round, we'll again give it a go with the 'Eaglet,' but with a better overall package this time out. As well, we may have a car entered on Saturday night's 'Gathering on the Green' car show event, only time will tell... Kettle Moraine Preservation & Restoration is pleased to announce we've adopted yet another four-wheeled soul into our fleet.
It has been to tracks all over the West Coast since it was born in England in 1958. Seen here entering the paddock at the 1960 United States Grand Prix [Revs Institute Photo] at Riverside; it would see its first action in a Grand Prix event. To be clear, it isn't Fred Armbruster's #25 Cooper T51-Ferrari... More coming soon on Pete Lovely's former 1958 Thames 800 transporter, along with a laundry list of thank yous! |
