Dagenham to Milwaukee

Milwaukee!
Look for the Thames & Stanguellini combo this Sunday at the Milwaukee Concours, held at Veteran's Park on the scenic shores of Lake Michigan.
The 'Tonka Set' won't be judged, but it'll serve as the home base for the race car class.

Jim Victor (1946-2018)

We were deeply saddened to hear the news that longtime ArmsUp Motorsports racer Jim Victor died yesterday, the result of a testing accident at Road America aboard his Formula Continental ride.

Last weekend, he was hustling his much-loved Chevron B17 to a fine podium finish at the Weathertech International Challenge, topping the FB class in the racegroup we were in with our Eagle DGF.
Jim was as kind and thoughtful off the track as he was on it, a true gentleman.
Our hearts go out to his family and many friends around the world. [Bill Nesius Photography]

The Weekend that Was: The 2018 WIC

P2 for Eagle DGF #005 today. The fresh motor started coming into form half way though and the Eagle caught the leaders in the FF/CF field with a lap to go.
A little more time and it could have made it a bit more interesting, but we're satisfied, as it was really the only clean session of the weekend.

On Saturday, we pulled off early due to changing weather conditions as we did not want to risk the car.

4th overall in FF/CF and 2nd in CF out of the 20 total that started on Sunday. The car also had fast lap of the FF/CF field by .1 of a second over the overall-winning Titan.

And you would not believe all the fans waving on the cool down lap...they know what's up. Eagle fans all around.

The 2018 Elkhart Lake Concours d'Elegance

7/21/2018

We didn't win any awards, but the prize of sharing the Thames and our borrowed Stanguellini package with the massive crowd in Elkhart Lake is something we will never forget!

Quite a few people who knew or met Pete Lovely during their lifetime stopped by, and there were also many who appreciated the time capsule feel of the Stanguellini riding atop the Thames.

All set up at RA!

The Thames is all set up at the track and ready for tonight's street car Concours d'Elegance on the streets of Elkhart Lake.

Enroute!

It was a rough start...

So we had bad luck for our first event of the year in May, hitting oil in the sketchy turn at Road America known as 'The Kink' meant our season took a bit of a detour as we rebuilt a lot of pieces to our 1977 All American Racers Eagle DGF #005.

So, we picked up a 'sponsor' we felt will mirror our climb back up the ladder.

Kelly Leak, eat your heart out.

Our WIC Concours Entry!

7/15/2018

Tonight we put the finishing touches on the former Fred Armbruster and Pete Lovely-owned 1958 Thames 800 that was used to transport the duo's Cooper-Ferrari to the 1960 United States Grand Prix, held at Riverside.

During its lifetime, the Thames also transported Ferraris, Loti, Coopers, loads of garbage (we have the receipts from the Tacoma, WA dump) and once, a Stanguellini FJ from the west coast distributor in San Francisco.
If you're planning on attending the WeatherTech® International Challenge with Brian Redman in Elkhart Lake, look for this wonderful machine at the Saturday night street car Concours d'elegance, where it will be shown with another amazing time capsule piece riding on the back, an unrestored 1959 Stanguellini FJ.
The duo, when paired together, give a distinct look of a team circling the globe for the past few decades looking for a place to be seen.
Luckily, for them, next Saturday night is almost here.
