Eagle #7228 in 1:18 form, complete with a Lloyd Ruby figurine. Special thanks to Steve Zautke who saw it for sale and lured us in!
An amazing custom build. ![]() Paul Jay stepped out of the driver's seat this past weekend and told me to shoe Eagle #7225. It was my second effort in doing so. The first time, back in 2013, didn't go so well due to a turbo that was lightly toasted- I hadn't completed a lap. This past weekend went without any hiccups, other than what we expected with the fuel line setup for an oval. All was good though. The car ran as we wanted, and it was turned out as you'd expect with Paul's many talents. Just wait until you see what he did with an Elden that was turning back into its earthy elements... [@rich_zimmermann Photography] Awesome session today as a part of the Vintage Indy portion of the IndyCar weekend here at Road America.
The Offy sang and the Eagle drove just as we expected- perfectly. And now the Elden sits for a week as we prep 1972 All American Racers Eagle #7225 for Road America for the Vintage Indy event.
It is truly amazing how far it has come from the twisted, rusty mess it was in September, 2019. More amazing was the feeling it felt to put it through the gears last week and know it was put together by a guy who made it better the whole way through. Most amazing was the man who traveled Europe with it 48 years ago. |
