Early days- the Eagle 'Sidehack' gets ready for the March 6, 1977 Ontario 200. Endplates were added the full-length 'sportscar nose' for raceday, though the all-aluminum cowling (Rem, of course) remained white with painted accent colors.
After starting 7th, Pancho Carter took the offset Eagle home to a fine 3rd place finish, one lap adrift from race winner AJ Foyt and second place Al Unser.
The John Miller-built 19° Drake-Offy sang like a bird all afternoon, as Carter swiftly, methodically moved to the front.
It was a contender.
