On this date in 1968, the world lost Jim Clark. Twice World Champion and winner of the 1965 Indianapolis 500, Clark made history within a short drive from our shop in August of 1963. Driving the revolutionary rear-engined Lotus 29, Clark and Lotus teammate Dan Gurney qualified 1-2 for the August 18 Tony Bettenhausen 200 event at the Milwaukee Mile. Although pensive in this photo, Clark went on to lead all 200 laps, lapping all but second-place A.J. Foyt. Gurney finished third, one lap down. The world of racing forever changed. Cheers Jim.
