#46 finished second today in Club Ford. Yes, besides running two 7200 Eagles and the DGF in the Eagle Demonstration session and having 7701, 7703, an Eagle BMX bike and 8101 on hand for static display, we also raced the 'Eaglet' this weekend!
DGF #005 was the only Eagle competing this weekend, so I felt like I had to go all out- but alas, I came 0.012 of a second short at the line. The tires were past their prime and we were a tad short on gerbils in the engine bay, but we'll get there. Granted, the driver could lose a bit of weight. Regardless, faster next time... I felt that the person who was the saleswoman who sold the car new in 1978 should get the medal- a sort of legacy commission of sorts. So cheers Kathy Weida! Having Kathy, the car's designer, John Ward, the Gurney's, and the AAR alumni hanging out in out pit area this weekend was beyond amazing, and something I will never forget. Ever. Those memories are permanent. I'll keep it flyin'. |
